All books are identified by an International Standard Book Number, an ISBN.
In January 2007, this changed from a 10-digit number (ISBN-10) to a 13-digit number (ISBN-13). The ISBN-13 is the same number as that currently referred to as the EAN number.
For all books published up to December 2006, you will continue to be able to search using either the ISBN-10 or the ISBN-13, even though the ISBN-10s no longer appear on the site. For books published in 2007, you should use the 13-digit ISBN, which begins with 978-0-572.
You do not need to use the hyphens when you search for a book by ISBN; they are displayed to make the numbers easier to access visually.
